hello everyone! i just finished watching birdman, and i thought it was fantastic. i am in awe.
to quote a review on letterboxd: "this is like fight club for theatre kids." they were so right.
i fucking loved the chaos in this film. and the appearances of the jazz drummer. beautiful.
this had everything i love in a movie: uncertainty, psychological instability, the first-watch feeling where you actually have no idea if what you're seeing is actually happening or if you're seeing through the eyes of a mentally disturbed protagonist, a descent into madness... whatever
obviously nowhere near broadway status but having spent time in theatre & the tumultuous backstage environment made this shit hit even harder ... every time they called places and riggan wouldn't fucking GO i felt my heart race, jesus christ. the arguments between actors, the narrow hallways, mike shiner and his "the lines are all up here, in my head," bullshit, it's all painfully familiar. that's probably why i loved it so much.
also, ed norton was ridiculously attractive in this despite playing a pretentious asshole woooooow. good film! i think you should watch it if you have not watched it already.
