I’m doing it.” Harry could feel flickers of magic skittering all around them. He closed his own eyes and ran his fingers over the smoothness of Malfoy’s palm. “Uhh. Lumos,” Malfoy said, and Harry felt a burst of energy, brief and electric, against his fingertips. “Wow. Yes. That’s it.” He felt excitement fizzing inside him at Malfoy’s achievement. Their hands slid together, Malfoy’s thumb rubbing across the callouses at the base of Harry’s fingers. Fuck, that was distracting. Like hot sparks rushing over every nerve ending.

I've found this fic via @hephaestiions’s gorgeous rec of this fic for day 13 prompt. Unfortunately, I was on a train on my way to work at that moment. So then of course I have been thinking about this fic ALL DAY. This ravishing art by @eleadore did not help. Not at all 😅

Regrettably, I do not have words to describe how fucking precious that fic was to me and how WORTH of my whole-day anticipation. It was everything I love in this ship and more and my literal bookmark on AO3 is just the below xd

I would simply suggest hephaestiions’s rec (linked above), there’s really nothing more I can say apart from emphasizing just how MUCH I love Draco being mad at Harry on Teddy’s behalf. And how wonderfully bratty Teddy is in this fic “Calling one Harry Potter, miraculously ready to fuck me? Renegade Winter Exchange 2022, part 2/2: You Open Always (Petal by Petal) by birdsofshore

Harry’s not the kind of person who pays for sex. He really isn’t. Until he is.

For the first book I bound @queercore-curriculum, I wanted to make a book that fit well on their shelf. For this one, I instead went full maximalism & made something totally different than what they make themselves—that’s part of the thrill of an exchange, I think (though it was a risk & I hope you like it!!!)

You Open Always (Petal by Petal) features an extremely hot sex worker Draco, an extremely thirsty Harry, the hottest sex you’ll ever read probably, one of my favorite depictions of a sly Kreacher, and a Grimmauld Place that really, really wants Harry and Draco to get together. It’s one of my favorite fics of all time & I’m so happy to have a copy on my bookshelf too now. In the design, I wanted to mimic Grimmauld Place throwing courting & marriage, etc items at Harry & Draco, so every chapter header has a different illustration of something I could imagine Grimmauld giving them: two birds, figs, strawberries, grapes, etc & led to me asking my partner things like: do you think of pomegranates as a sexual fruit? (The answer is yes). 

For the bind, I made a flat-back oxford hollow. Also inspired by @queercore-curriculum I hand-dyed linen & painted a pair of thrushes on the front and back cover, as well as painting the title on the spine (note: this is the single thing I am most proud of for this bind—I was so nervous the entire time painting). The headband is a front-bead double-color headband with peach and chartreuse. Hope you like both binds, @queercore-curriculum; it was so fun making them for you! Birds, if you’d ever like an author copy of this bind, let me know & I am happy to make and send one to you :) thank you for sharing this lovely fic with our fandom!

Some notes on process: I always make a ‘test book’ that I keep before sending out a copy to someone else—this is to make sure everything works well & looks good together (which you can see in the photos). The original dye of the linen for the bookcloth turned out a much hotter pink than I intended, so the copy I sent went back in the dying bucket for a more raspberry finish. I also changed endpapers between the test copy & the sent copy. I originally wanted a solid color endpaper because the rest of the book was so maximalist, but didn’t love any of the colors at my local paper store. I do really like the marbled endpaper I chose instead, but it was too thin for a good endpaper & I didn’t want to faff about with creating made endpapers, so I found a solid color I liked at a different art store :)

This is actually a change from the regularly scheduled programming, because the next reclist I was working on isn't going to be ready for a bit, so I thought in the meantime I'd take the opportunity to rec an old (eternal) favourite author. Look, if you're reading this and for any reason you haven't checked out birdsofshore's back catalogue yet, you need to cancel all your plans, lock the doors and load up AO3, because you are in for a treat. And if you have - well, now's as good a time as any to re-read your old favourite, because I'm almost positive that everyone will be able to name at least one comfort fic from birds. Their fics are absolutely chock full of UST (and then perfectly resolved ST), usually featuring a fantastically snarky Draco and banter-a-plenty. It was really hard to choose five faves from this lot (thanks to @tackytigerfic for your help!), so you should run, don't walk, over to AO3 to discover your own fave birds fic!

Summary: Harry should have known better than to accept a drunken dare. Especially when Malfoy was sitting right there, looking like that and wearing those bloody tight trousers.

Before this happened... “ He touches his throat and my eyes are drawn to the narrow band which encircles his neck so perfectly. “I was wondering whether I should have a bit of dignity and give up on you. But now...” He reaches for his wine and takes a draught, his tongue swiping across his top lip to catch a stray drop. “Can you honestly tell me that you’re not interested?”

My mouth is so dry I’m not sure I can answer.

“Tell me. Am I fooling myself about what I think I’ve seen? Tell me I am, and I’ll go.”

My voice sounds like it’s cracked from disuse. “No.”

His eyes are burning into me.

“No, you’re not wrong,” I tell him.

He scrambles across the few feet separating us so that he’s crouching on the floor in front of my chair. “Hell, Malfoy. Draco... please...”

I can’t take any more. He’s at my feet, begging me, his face tilted up expectantly and his eyes blazing with heat. I kiss him, opening his lips with my tongue, and he groans into my mouth. My hands run over the muscles of his back, and I feel the heat of his body through his shirt. And I want him. I want him so badly.
