"How many orc heads did you get this morning?..." Got tagged in this 7 days of drawing thing on Facebook, so I'm finally starting that today! I thought it'd be fun to ask friends to give me keywords or objects to work into a character drawing. Today's keyword is "Bisento" (a staff-like weapon).

bisentō, naginata, nagamaki, nodachi, twinbeamsword: (mostly) japanese weapons and a dream (of a twin-bladed naginata <3)
The Japanese spear or "yari" was of the most important weapons to the bushi. Usually carried by a foot soldier or cavalry, it was a standard weapon of defense during battle. Measuring from five to eight feet in length, the yari gave the samurai warrior a great advantage on the battlefield. As a long-range weapon, the yari kept opponents at a safe distance. It was extremely lethal if used to its full capabilities by a master. Although often used for swift thrusts, slashes, and stabbing, it was most devastating when utilized for its lighting-fast sweeping and circular motions. A master of the yari can easily disarm a samurai armed with a katana blade making this one of the most valuable weapons in a samurai's arsenal.(source)
