I'm trying to parse out what's going on in Bite Me... so I'm going to try to write it out and see what happens.
I wanna start with Aek. Because there's a lot going on with him. @iguessitsjustme has suggested the idea that he might be demisexual and uncomfortable with the concept of romance. I do like it and it helps to classify his panic. But then we go back to the staring they shared... and I suppose we can explain that by him just literally being oblivious to the energy that Aue was giving off. It also adds an explanation to some of the ways Aek has been reacting after he rejected Aue.
So if we go from the concept that he's demisexual and is slowly realizing that what he feels towards Aue is sexual and romantic attraction but he isn't being given the time to process this between hurting himself and Aue just... we'll talk about Aue in a moment, okay, it helps a lot with his sudden change in demeanor. This also starts to explain his coldness towards Vich as well as his avoidance of his friends. He's struggling to reconcile new knowledge of himself with his injury and with Aue's confession.
This leaves him struggling and alternating between being cold and crying as he tries to figure out what, exactly, he's experiencing, feeling and realizing. And it offers an explanation for why he stared at Aue when he left him alone in the room after the secondary confession.
Honestly, I'm willing to just... decide this fits because, frankly, I can't come up with any other explanation for the sudden change in demeanor and attitude towards so many people in such a short time. Still doesn't explain a lot of his actions with Viphob but... nothing is perfect, okay? Maybe he's latching onto something new and unfamiliar and unattached to his former identity in order to try to find something comforting with this sudden new knowledge of himself.
Aue is harder, though. Because Aue's sudden aggression and predatory nature is a huge change from what we've seen before this. So how do we explain his actions?
I'm gonna start with the assumption that Aue is, in fact, sure that Aek loves him. He obviously is because everyone else is as well. So Aue is absolutely sure that Aek loves him and just doesn't realize it.
... This isn't helping but it is the only explanation for his actions on that 'date'.
But now we have to explain him entering Aek's home and basically cornering him. Which is harder. Because Aek rejected him, punched him and then tried to turn him away at the door.
Again, the focus on this has to be that Aue is 100% certain that Aek is also in love with him and just in denial. He has no doubts and is trying (badly) to act on Prem's advice to make sure that everything is understood and to build a better foundation. So he pushes his emotions onto Aek by talking to him. I'm going to assume that the cornering him bit was just kind of an enthusiastic mistake on his part.
So we've got demisexual Aek struggling with his identity and pushing people away because he can't reconcile his new thoughts with who he thought he was and overenthusiastic Aue who's absolutely sure that Aek shares his emotions and is just in denial.
... I mean, it is a recipe for disaster. No denials. Very fitting for this show.
I am trying to overthink this SO HARD.
