Stiles feels a hard knot in his chest, and he slides down against the wall he’s leaning on, trying to keep his breathing steady.

There's just so much going on, so many things he has to deal with and he can’t really, not now, and he needs his brain to stop just for a minute until he can breathe and figure out what do do because that’s his job in this group to have a plan even when everything and everyone else is falling apart and-

A hand is suddenly on his shoulder, and Stiles suddenly realizes that Derek is there, silent as usual, sitting next to him against the wall.

“Just breathe.” Derek says, quietly, not moving his hand. “Repeat the word ‘relax’ in your head and focus on that until you feel better.”

Stiles nods, and closes his eyes, focusing only on his breathing and the warm hand on his shoulder.
