i don't understand why silas was the reason that stefan was a ripper

As of right now it’s just a theory. But the theory goes that Stefan was so completely whacked out and blood crazed to make up for the fact that Silas was starving. So in a way he was eating for two? If that makes sense? So whilst Silas starved for the 2000 years he was alive, Stefan binged to make up for it.

The fact that Stefan is this big horrible ripper and just happens to be the doppelganger of a guy who hasn’t fed in forever is ringing off a lot of alarm bells in the fandom.
