Despite their attempts to comfort Honeykit, Aspenkit and Bitternpaw are worried. They have no healer, save for a young kitten with no training, and greencough can go bad fast. However, Aspenkit has faith that everything will turn out okay.

At last, Splinterburn manages to convince Bitternpaw to take the heirs and run. Splinterburn turns back to the embers of what was once her home, ready to do what she must to earn forgiveness for what she has done.
