BJ Drabble
Another drabble prompt filled! This time for one of my personal favorite characters that Jon has played, BJ from Grudge Match. This one was requested by @darlingshane . I played with a few different ideas but this one was the end result. Hope you enjoy. The prompt was "Welcome to fatherhood."
What started out as a little sniffle had turned into all of you ending up with the flu. For five days, you and BJ had done what you could to keep the kids hydrated and comfortable, cleaning up as much as you could along the way. Both of you were barely functioning as it was, knocked for a loop with how sick you both ended up. Everyone had pretty much been confined to the living room for the sake of keeping things as compact and enclosed as possible. The messes were easier to clean up in a confined space rather than all over the house. Plus, it allowed easy, fairly quick access to both bathrooms.
By the sixth day, the kids thankfully were feeling better. No more buckets were needed at bedside and fevers had gone. Sure there were still aches and coughs but now it was manageable. BJ looked a bit brighter as he pulled the hamper of laundry into the laundry room. He had stayed home instead of going back to help get caught up on everything that had been neglected the last few days.
"You coming around too finally?"
"Yeah think so. First day I was able to keep down something other than Gatorade and crackers."
"Good. Tommy should be over in twenty. He and Karen made some home made soup for all of us."
"Awesome. Makes dinner tonight easier. And hopefully enough to stay down," he laughed, causing you to do the same. Given how hard the past few days had been, it felt good to laugh.
True to their word, your friends stopped by with a giant pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. It was enough to keep you all fed for the next two days at least. You and BJ met the other couple outside so they didn't have to step into the house. Tommy had their baby bouncing softly in his arms as Karen handed over the soup. The newborn was only about two weeks old.
"Thanks guys. This is great, we really appreciate it." You offered as you took the food. It smelled fantastic even cold.
"Thought it might make the next day or two easier on you as you got back into the swing of things. You helped us so much when we came home, it's the least we could do." Right at that moment, you heard Tommy groan. The baby had spit up whatever meal he had had before they had walked over. You all snickered, unable to help it. BJ moved to help grab the cloth from the bag at his side and handed it over with a laugh.
"Welcome to fatherhood," he started. "Just wait until they get older and do the same thing."
