April 30, 1997: A 12-3 rout of host Minnesota gives the Orioles their 16th victory, tying the club record for the winningest April. B.J. Surhoff has four hits, including a home run, and shortstop Mike Bordick gets his first RBI as an Oriole — in his 76th at-bat.
April 27, 1979: A pregame earthquake in Oakland doesn't faze the Orioles, who rock the A's, 7-1, for their ninth straight win. Ken Singleton, Gary Roenicke and Lee May hit home runs.
April 24, 1968: The Colts' Lenny Moore announces his retirement. In 12 years here as a halfback and flanker, “Spats” helped Baltimore win two world championships, scored 113 touchdowns and was NFL Player of the Year in 1964. He was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1975.
April 30, 1965: In a battle of unbeatens, Severn's lacrosse team defeats Boys' Latin, 9-6, in overtime. Doug Carter and Dick Bennett score three times each for the Little Admirals, who go on to win their first Maryland Scholastic Association title since 1929.
April 24, 1945: St. Paul's lacrosse team defeats winless Forest Park, 30-0, setting a school record for most goals in a game. Bert Sadtler and Barry Robertson score five goals each for the undefeated Crusaders, who led 11-0 at halftime.
April 25, 1939: A nine-run first inning and an eight-run eighth power the Orioles to a 25-11 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in an International League game at Oriole Park. Manager Rogers Hornsby's team hits four homers, and the losers commit eight errors.
April 29, 1925: Stanislaus Zbyszko, world heavyweight wrestling champion, defeats Hans Gojes, European champ, at the Folly Theater. “After a bit of preliminary sparring, [Zbyszko] tossed the Gojes bulk of 260 pounds over his head and won a fall,” The Sun reports.
April 28, 1912: An argument over who should exercise a horse ends in a shooting at Pimlico Race Course. Henry Green, 54, is seriously wounded by William Miller, who shoots him in the jaw.

April 26, 1941: Gary Cuozzo, Colts backup quarterback who, in his first NFL start, passed for five touchdowns in a 41-21 win over the host Minnesota Vikings in 1965.
