Do you know how Steve Pettit is branding Bob Jones University? On September 29, 2019 at Harvest Baptist Church of Rock Hill, South Carolina, he said (17:15):

So when I went to Bob Jones University, there was one element of culture that was missing.  And it was Bluegrass.

In the BJU General Alumni thread discussing BJU’s new Bluegrass Group featured at Homecoming, former president Stephen Jones swoops in to correct any “misconception” that BJU was anti-Bluegrass.

Please allow me to address two of the questions asked. BJU has periodically incorporated light bluegrass music (played by gifted groups of faculty, staff, and students) into casual events such as the annual Senior Picnic and the Freshman Welcome Picnic. That began during my father’s presidency and has continued to the present. The music is appropriate in those casual settings, just as more elevated sacred music is most appropriate for the periodic Vespers programs (and the vast majority of campus life). There is a place for both—and there is certainly a need for Spirit-controlled charity among Believers who differ in matters like this.

Those casual settings, eh, Stephen? Like Sunday Morning Church? Like Steve Pettit is doing?

Is Pettit thumbing his nose at you and your family and the so-called “music standards” as well as the music faculty?
