Happy May 10th, everyone! Figured this would be a good time to share this small comic sample of the original comic book I'm making based on bonkai!:) Sorry, it took so long to really show anything, but I just graduated with my illustration degree and am teaching myself from the ground up on how to make this comic happen:) I've been working on a website to start commission work for drawing for this fandom as well or to find some way to allow fans of the original comic to fund the comic if its captivating enough, but until that is ready and more official, I'll be back with a link and more info on that later.

Back to the comic, this is just a four-page sample showing the perspective of the second main character as a new "arrival" falls into Limbus. I'm going to keep some of his info hidden for a bit, but I'm sure you can piece things together on your side as well. Message me if you have any questions! I also got to display this in my senior exhibit, and it was really cool to show everyone this crazy world I built and its monsters and characters. It's really rewarding to have people still respond to Bonkai inside and outside of the fandom, which made me really happy! Anyways, happy May 10th:)

May 10 Teaser

“Hey, at least I didn’t put you in the trunk this time.”

Bonnie shifts again, grimacing. Her arms are asleep and her head feels fuzzy, probably from being electrocuted into unconsciousness. The migraine from before is worse. Nausea forces her to close her eyes. She highly doubts Kai will do anything to help her if she vomits on herself or his car.

“You’re crazy,” she primly informs him after swallowing back her sickness. “I just met you. How could you have kidnapped me before?”

“Bonnie, Bonnie, are you a witch or aren’t you? Ever heard of magic?”

“Magic that lets you kidnap me multiple times?”

“Sooooo crazy, right? Almost as crazy as this empty globe that repeats the same day over and over again. Nuts.”

Valid point.

“Why don’t I remember you then?”

“You never do. Each replay is different. For a long while, I couldn’t remember either. It comes back slowly, but then when it’s back, it’s really back, you know?”

Bonnie shakes her head, too confused to deal with his delusions, then leans it against the window. The car’s AC has chilled the glass, making it feel like heaven on her heated, clammy cheeks.

“I’m so sad you fucked Damon. I can’t believe you’d cheat on me.”

“Batshit insane,” Bonnie mutters to herself.

Kai pats her knee soothingly and then leaves his hand to rest there. It makes her skin crawl. “Don’t worry, Bon, you’ll see soon.”

“Malachai,” she bites out. “Don’t touch me.”

He starts to laugh, long and hard, from the gut. It doesn’t stop, and it’s enough to make Bonnie risk hurling to peer at him through her lashes. Kai moves his hand up, massaging her lower thigh for a moment before returning his hand to the steering wheel. The double whammy of relief and disappointment that washes over Bonnie at the loss of contact nearly makes her head explode.

She needs some Excedrin.

Chuckles still escape Kai and finally, she relents. “What’s so funny?”

“You remembered my name, Bon.”

“You introduced yourself, wacko.”

“Mhm. As Kai.”

The fog from her headache makes him hard to comprehend, but then she realizes what he isn’t saying.

He never called himself Malachai.

“Damon’s going to kill you,” she hisses. Kai huffs.

“Yeah, your boy toy’s gonna be a problem, huh? Cheater.”

“I don’t know you!”

“Sure, Bonnie,” Kai drawls. “Keep telling yourself that, baby.”

In honor of May 10, which is the official day of Bonkai, I want to share a snippet of a fic idea I’m working on. For my friends in the Good Girls fandom, don’t worry, I’m still working on GG Fic. But this idea has been rattling around in my head for the past week and I’m super excited to share it with my fellow Bonkai fans.

I don’t have a title yet, but the synopsis is as follows:

By the age of five, Bonnie Bennett’s magic is so powerful that her body can’t handle it. Having exhausted every known method—both medical and magical—Sheila Bennett reaches out to the Gemini coven in a plea for help. Joshua Parker agrees to see the child, but favors among witches always come with a price. Then Kai Parker, siphon Gemini outcast, meets Bonnie Bennett, magical overflow Bennett witch, and nothing in their lives will ever be the same.

I’ve included a snippet from the prologue under the cut, and will be posting both the prologue and Chapter 1 later this week.

It starts with little things, small enough that Sheila and Abby dismiss it as Bonnie’s latent magical abilities manifesting at a young age. A favorite toy nestled in her crib while she sleeps after Rudy swears he put it in the toy chest. The whir of her automatic rocker turning on before they have a chance to find the power switch. And—in one of her more memorable tantrums at the ripe age of two—a barricade of stuffed animals surrounding her in the living room while all the lights in the house flickered and finally went dark.

Sheila radiates quiet amusement and pleasure every time Abby regales her with Bonnie’s newest antics. “She’s a Bennett witch, all right,” she quips, smiling at her granddaughter and tickling her tummy.

Rudy always has a muttered complaint, grumbling about terrible twos, tantrums, and magic. But they’re quick to reassure him that these kinds of little outbursts are normal, particularly in a line of witches as strong as the Bennett's. They’re harmless and will pass once Bonnie is a little older and has better control.

Until Bonnie starts a fire at the local daycare. She’s three.

No one is hurt, thankfully, but the staff are panicked and one woman refuses to come near Bonnie. Claims she started the fire because another kid pushed her. The fire department concludes the fire was caused by faulty wiring and shuts down the building until it can be repaired. The owner pulls Abby aside and explains it would be better for everyone if Bonnie didn’t come back.

Sheila and Abby begin researching spells and wards to control Bonnie’s magic the very next day.
