Climbing Course 2016
Every year UKHK arranges a course for beginners where we teach aspiring climbers to learn the trade of traditional climbing.
One guide and two student climbers, twin ropes and a lot of gear that some have never seen before. The climbing is easy - the focus is on learning to follow on trad climbs and belay management primary.
Gear is discussed and for some climbers this is their first contact with camming devices and nuts :)
My students this weekend were Linnea and Ida, both good climbers but they had almost no experience with trad gear and belays etc. We had two great days - I think the girls learned a lot, at least I hope so :)
My students following me on a two pitch route, Gemini at Blåberget.
Another instructor with his students at the top of Steneld, Blåberget.
Hanging out at night means some barbecue, camping in tents etc. A great weekend and some make new friends - literally -at these courses,
Hot day! Went to Blåberget today, must have been the hottest day so far tjis summer! After lunch temperatures was 25 + and my favorite routes was in the baking sun so we kept in the shade instead :)
Restday!
Have been hanging out with family today, restday from all training and just chilling' .... But how much rest is there with two 2-year olds in the house? It's raining hard outside now but tomorrow the forecast says sun and good temperature so we will go climbing at our local crag ;) Blåberget, an hour drive from home.
Rain, rain, rain and Progression.
No climbing today, seems like forever but it has only been a week since my last trip. My dear wife promised me to go climbing both days this weekend - if the weather now permits it. Today it has rained like crazy, but good for our backyard that started to look brown and torn. Went running in the rain and somehown the rain was like crazy as soon as I got out the door... *sigh* Training on the Progression fingerboard has left me with a grip much firmer than I'm used to, tested some new moves at our bouldering wall the other day and - Yeah!!!
Forecast fortomorrow looks good though, so we packed all gear and leaves it at that. If weather is ok it's off to Blåberget, our local "crag" with 60 meters of trad climbing, almost all routes are sustained cracks from top to bottom! Nice, but this time of year there can be a LOT of mosquitoes ;-)
Soon it's of to Norway - Lofoten if weather is ok for the period ;-)
