New Year!
Wtf! Again, sittning here on New years eve looking out the window, blizzard with heavy wet snow outside 🌨
New year, lot’s of new opportunities. We have a brand new climbing gym and I have a lot of routes that I haven’t climbed yet! Great, just pick some of the projects and start training 😊
A happy New Year in deed! 😊🧗♀️
Alpine skiing!
Rain another weekend! Besides the New climbing gym nothing fun realt happens this time of year so we took the girls and went skiing 😊
Not much snow, seems it had rained a LOT here too... Bummer! 😏But still a better day than hanging in town and watching the rain through the windows!
It still looks a bit fun with no snow besides the artificial snow that has been prepared! Now there are tired legs and after testing ot the Gondol we hope for a morning that doesn’t start at 5:15 AM 😂
New gym 😍
Finally!
When I moved to Umeå in -98, there was a BIG climbing wall @ IKSU. Much bigger than the one in Skellefteå from where I moved.
Was reminded about this earlier this week as I saw an image of a similar Entrepris Imprint as we had built in Skellefteå in 1992. The same year the wall @ IKSU was built!
Now, some 😱 years later IKSU makes a quantum leap as they opened up the new climbing gym! 😊 Everything special built for climbing, floor, ventilation - the only gym purpouse built for climbing!
Autum trail 😊
Since early May there has been not much running, tore a hamstring and only rehab.
Rehab sucks, there is no nice way to say it but thanks to my excellent physiotherapist Anna from SportsMedicine here in Umeå I have rebuilt my strength in my right hamstring 👍
Today I went for a longer run - in my favorite nickning the woods 😁 The old garrison 10k track, up and around Ersmarksberget!
No pain and a sun in the face - a great feeling when the hard work in the gym pays off 😁
Ice, ice...
Oppps! I’t been almost a year since my last post - bad me! Not that I haven’t been busy, just too busy to post anything here...
Went out for some Iceclimbing at our training field the other day, It’s just a small ice field in the woods but right now, anything goes! A bit long to drive but when there’s noting much else around, what to do?
The view isn’t that bad - and this is only halfway up! The pale January light is usable for climbing for some 3,5 hrs, then it’s back to black again.
Here’s Fredrik leading up to the small cave that hosts a two bolted belays from most of the climbing takes place using topropes. The curtain hasen’t formed properly in years, when it does all of the face is climbable. On the rock section there are som bolts to facilitate mixed climbing but the ice has to be thicker on the top section for this to work out.
Rappeling down again!
Back at home comes the drying game, how to dry your gear without taking up to much place but still be airy enough and out of the way.
Trail running! After a Day sittning still in a classroom moving a little felt lika good idea! Well, that was My first longer run this year, ended up with dinner from the Icecream van since I got soo tired I didn't have the strenght to walk to any restaurant 😂
A little more grownup celebration 🍾
Had to go to the pool today 😎
Linux is 25 today 🎂 here is the original announcement by Linus. Happy birthday Linux.

Whopp 😊
Summer’s here :)
Three more days! Then it’s holiday time! Tested out som new gear with my youngest one the other day, a new carrier for her... Seems like she approved!
Went for some more running at Tavelsjöberget one evening, the Tavelsjöleden is a great trail, after passing the sign then it gose uphill, quite a lot actually, it gets your heart going.
The trail is easy running - didn’t go all the way - if you run in to town you are in for some 39k - think I’ll try that some day ;-)
A new rider will emerge from this famliy also, we went to XXL to by a new bike for her bigger sister but trying out helmets is really fun when stuck in line at the cashier :D
The IOS cow...
IOS: You have one cow. It chews grass.
IOS-XE: You have two cows. One chews grass and the other tells it what to chew.
IOS-XR: You have 27 cows. You have no idea what they do but when they fall over a new a cow instantly reappears. Somehow they cost more than your house.
NX-OS: You have a penguin with a cow attached. It yells instructions at a robot mega-cow. The robot chews grass really fast.
CatOS: You have a very old cow in a huge metal box that only speaks Spanish. Grass gives it diarrhea which it then spews out its 275 orifices at high speed.
Denmark, planes, burgers and work
Had the opportunity to go to Denmark earlier.
We are going to install the NSX product from VMware in our DC. This needs some burgers and some beer to - no but this is a fairly complicated product and we needed some education on the subject.
Passed by HQ -lies just around the corner from Arrow where the course was held.
Running Juniper firewalls seems tiresome :D
Beers and burgers was on the menu, after all we were in Denmark and they have great beer...
Going home always feels great though :)
Upgrade time...
Nervous waiting game today! Yeah, I do work sometimes :D
Climbing Course 2016
Every year UKHK arranges a course for beginners where we teach aspiring climbers to learn the trade of traditional climbing.
One guide and two student climbers, twin ropes and a lot of gear that some have never seen before. The climbing is easy - the focus is on learning to follow on trad climbs and belay management primary.
Gear is discussed and for some climbers this is their first contact with camming devices and nuts :)
My students this weekend were Linnea and Ida, both good climbers but they had almost no experience with trad gear and belays etc. We had two great days - I think the girls learned a lot, at least I hope so :)
My students following me on a two pitch route, Gemini at Blåberget.
Another instructor with his students at the top of Steneld, Blåberget.
Hanging out at night means some barbecue, camping in tents etc. A great weekend and some make new friends - literally -at these courses,
My lunchbreak today! Delad med Suunto Movescount App
Baggböle
Short trailrun this morning, been working late last night and getting out in the woods felt great. Especially with weather like this.
Olle tricked us into going for burgers for lunch yesterday! Bad him and not a bad burger. Say hello to MacCheese! Yes - that is correct, a real beef burger with macaroni and cheese on top :D Tasted great :)
Todays running was soft, easy and familiar but I got to wear shorts for the first time this year :D Fighting face below.. LOL
