to my younger nonblack (and especially white) followers i am begging you to recognize that age does not give you a pass to be an ignorant piece of shit.
i post so much about the topic of antiblackness because i want you all to read it. because yall keep disappointing me. because i want you to care and hopefully come to stand up for Black people yourself. it's so extremely important to keep yourself informed and uplift Black voices and make an effort to show care for your fellow human. it makes me sad when nonblack followers block the "antiblackness" tag or conveniently not see any of my reblogs or posts regarding the topic, since usually those people are the ones who are the most ignorant and ill-informed.
kids are stupid, sure. kids don't wanna read "upsetting serious adult stuff" and just want to have fun in fandom. but wouldn't you agree it's extremely fucking unfair that your "fun" almost always comes at the expense of Black people in your community who also just want to have fun? why do they need to give you grace, when they're constantly forced to watch nonblack users (even ones they're close to) throw them under the bus while you get to cover your ears whenever Black users simply talk about their frustrations?
if those same nonblack kids have the energy to contain a vast array of knowledge on queer history and discrimination and some niche queer discourse, sometimes even unlearning years of internalized homophobia or transphobia if you didn't have the privilege of growing up in an accepting environment, why the fuck are discussions about antiblackness suddenly too serious for you? why is it too hard and too mentally draining now when race got brought up?
yall in the doodle world community love getting involved in long winded stupid arguments and discourse with each other but when it comes to real productive discussions about race yall are quiet as fuck.
if you keep waiting, if you don't start now, you'll get comfortable. and you never will want to start.
