mon. oct.4 // reclaiming my time has been top priority this week. wfh has been making it really difficult to block off time for school because I’m exhausted by the end of the day. slowly training myself to wake up earlier so I can have my mornings back.

haven’t done an annotated bib in years but I think it’ll be really helpful to organize my thoughts while I work on my lit review.

picked up these beauts for my oct reads. farah jasmine griffin did a beautiful talk at the schomburg center a few months ago so I’m excited to dive in to her book. i read a bit of in search of our mother’s gardens this morning and found some annotations I forgot I made. It was a sweet find.

another book pile. still waiting for the book shelves to arrive. i don’t even have the energy to make these all look orderly right now because i know i’m just gonna sort them again when the shelves get here. excited to get settled back into a routine since my comprehensive exams are coming so soon.

today was not nearly as productive as yesterday. i found that i was exhausted. but i do tend to get a second wind after the afternoon nap and dinner, so we’ll see. i’m gonna drink some more kombucha after i finish this peanut butter toast.

the book shelf has finally arrived! it’s huge but exactly what was needed.

i have submitted my written comprehensive exam. the oral portion will be soon. things definitely started to feel more chaotic towards the end but i submitted it and it’s done.

it’s still so weird to be a norf town bih in a doctoral program. grateful for a field that essentially lets me do academic journaling. hopefully i pass!
