Rhodes must fall not to erase history. No! But rather, Rhodes must fall and he must be put in a museum and in his place, when he has fallen, both his physical statues and his legacy upon the structure of our lives, that must be dealt with.

We must reform the way we think, dress, behave, treat one another, go to work, we just redefine where and how we work and why we work and how we are compensated for our work... that (& more) all means we must decolonize our mindsets and existences.

Holaa Loves: #ForBlackGirlsOnly-

We recently got to be a part of an amazing event that was reserved exclusively to bring together of Black women within the community, to share, grow and love one another.

According to founder Sivu Siwisa:

‘#ForBlackGirlsOnly’s most fundamental goal is to uplift Black women and begin a conversation that’ll hopefully lead women to place of interrogating, learning, unlearning and balance what has been made out of balance for generations and generations. The space is also an opportunity to network, share resources and establish a community of women who are invested in the advancement of women.’

The picnic saw so many flavours of black women come together in a safe space created for them by them to speak on all manner of things from pleasure to politics. Here is a little taste of why the women who were there loved the space.

ImeIme Umana: Her Moment is Now

A moment comes when it is needful to recognize our progress, concerning who we are and how far we have come. Without this necessary measure of soul searching – not always a popular endeavor these days – we may find that we are too weary, too wary to tell a truth and commit ourselves to new ways of being and new growth. One of these moments is now. For the first time in the history of the 130 year old Harvard Law Review, a black woman has been named its president. Her name is ImeIme (pronounced “Ah-MAY-may”) Umana.
