If yall haven't noticed from my Blade x Shugo Chara post, I have been doing this huge project where I take live action toku heroes and dress them up like magical girls! Mostly PreCure atm, but I have a whole list and will be expanding to Ultra in the near future as well!
This is currently Part 1 of this entire project and depending on how well these do, I will be adding more to my ever expanding inventory!
I have a doc where i put Persona's Featherman lore cause im. autistic, but in doing this i've learnt a lot about Akechi through Black Condor from Jetman (the super sentai that Featherman is based off).
Like, Where The Hell Did Grey Pigeon Come From?
Akechi takes a lot of inspiration from Black Condor, who is, directly taken from his wiki page, a “confrontational and obnoxious loner who hates being ordered around.” He's the bad boy archetype, he cheats and gambles and is a bit of a womanizer. also, he plays pool and loves jazz. I mean... fuck, Condor even comes back from the dead like Akechi does in 3rd semester, though it is admittedly entirely different means and wants, but That's Black Condors Influence!!!
And, In Base P5, you just have to assume Akechi is Black Falcon. He doesn't have a featherman costume or anything, all we have is what the game tells us. Black Falcon (In Neo Featherman Again) is established to be a traitor, and that's all we have to go off.
But they doubled down on the Black Condor-isms in Royal, only to make him GREY PIGEON? I mean, the Featherman Seeker game that Grey Pigeon comes from is directly referencing Akechi’s life, including Shido’s goons, and Wakaba Isshiki, and his eventual sacrifice. Who The Hell Is Grey Pigeon?
The pigeon part here is easy to decipher. Pigeons are well known for being abandoned once they no longer had a use, and nowadays are widely considered scum or parasites. And the archetype around Silver Rangers is the same as any other sixth ranger, theyre an outlier in some way and have a different goal from the rest of the team, which fits Akechi Fine.
But he isn't Silver Pigeon, he's Grey. At first i thought i was reading waaay to much into it and assumed this was for the naming scheme. Like, we're all normal colours and here comes akechi's fancy silver ass, but actually I think. I think it's a reference to Jetman again?
Black Condor had a long-term rival called Grey, whom he killed. Idk, i just. I think there's a parallel to be made here.

the kanji i chose for this guy basically mean "valiant" and "flying hawk" because 1. how much more protagonist can you get than Valiant 2. hurhur hawk AGJALLAKLAHKGSLHF
i wanted him to exude Protagonist in general as he is the leader, while still making him seem relatable—so that's how his design came about AKDKAND— his hair is also the Bird™iest aside from Owl's because i think it's funny
Kento Higurashi
the kanji in his name mean . "dark one" and I Think Something Like "sunset" because c'mon he's Condor he has to be The Dark One LASKKAAK
because i am cringe and free i made him kin-able for Akechi WHEEZE also BlaRe scar exchange. Because I Can. do it for the Shuake projection yaoi. but yeah i wanted him to be dark but not OHHH HE'S EVIL because he is Still on the team even with the conflict and struggles he faces
Shiori Kokusawa
her kanji mean something like "clever guide" and "swan stream", because she has The Braincell and is also Swan.
i wanted her to feel very Cool And Collected because despite swans being known for beauty she just . Feels Like She Would Be That. like she just Feels like she would be the Smart Strategic One. but it's okay she's still very gongeous
Kanami Uzura
the kanji in her name mean "beautiful love" (or . love and beautiful) and "pheasant" because Argus Can You See The Trend By Now .,
i designed her with your cliche blonde cutesy gal in mind since Featherman R specifically seems to be a late 80's kinda show, but i wanted to make her more than Just the cliche blonde cutesy gal, so she's the designated ass-kicker who will destroy if you blink for a moment too long (also her hair being very long despite the Feathermen having helmets is a playful nudge at media that does that irl)
Masato Yomi
last but not least, our funky owl guy! his kanji mean "correct/proper and wise" and like . idk how this would translate to English aside from the direct words so "night and see" . because there was nothing with owl. but that is okay he gets His Entire Name to be owl-related
i wanted him to be the emotional support, like if there's infighting or someone has Emotional Problems they would go to him and he would give them deep wisdom in a peculiarly light-hearted way, like he'll be like "your heart is broken, yes. but that means it can be fixed." while patting their shoulder with a nonchalant smile FJNSJFJSJ because of this everyone is scared shitless when he gets serious/loses hope because If He Of All People Is No Longer Smiling It Must Be Really Fcking Bad
OH ALSO!!! wow he gets three (3) paragraphs lucky fellow. i gave him the little hair antennae to make him look owl-y. also i thought of Larxene while doing those and now i can't look at him without thinking he's her distant cousin help me

We'll be at ANYC all weekend in different Rider cosplay. Tentative plan is Lakia or Nyelv Thursday, Shoma Friday, Wizard and Hanto Saturday, and Lakia or Nyelv Sunday (whichever I don't do on Thursday). We will be handing out stickers and candy from a little before the con Thursday to a bit after the con Sunday or until we run out. We didn't run out last year so we should be fine this year.
Also we're going to the VIP dinner so if you're gonna be there hit us up. It was a birthday present from several family members who chipped in for it cuz we don't have the money to drop $520 on a dinner regardless of how bad we wanna go. 😅 -Damien

It's easy to find the good when it's all around you, Cameron shows how difficult it is when the world is cruel, and that it's still worth it to keep digging through the dirt to find the glimmer of hope.
