Final for SEQA 202

This was one of the first times I did colour blocking and although it isn’t the best, I like how it turned out!

Just messing around with some brushes and made some nature.

This first image is the black blindspots with this sorta grainy, softly neon-looking, glittery bits. Can't explain it too well, but depending on the day these things can cover up all my vision and blind me for a temporary amount of time. Usually though, they leave me some spaces to see through.

This second image is the green sheen or film. Everything's just green and it's really trippy, but I can see at least. It's in a different color, but still transparent.

This last image is the green spots. They're only a little see through and they're mostly just really annoying. They're also the most common things that appear in my eyes.

Ocular migraines are very odd since it has very little to do with your actual eyes. It's mainly just the brain sending odd signals to your vision. As far as I'm aware, there's nothing that can be done for the visual part.

I thought it would a little fun to share this info though, to those who either didn't know about ocular migraines or were curious about them. They can be different per person too!

It took some digging (ha) but this beetle has been ID’d as a 

Dendroxena sexcarinata (Silphidae),  ヨツボシヒラタシデムシ (Yotsuboshi Hirata-Shidemushi)

Silphidae are carrion beetles and this gives them a slightly spooky or dirty reputation, but they perform a vital service to the ecosystem and even to human Forensic Entomologists, because they can provide information about time of death when found on a decaying body. Some beetles in this family will actually bury dead flesh in order to utilize its nutrients. 

Description: 10-15mm in length, with a light brown, golden or orange color with four even spots on the wing tips, black underneath, black head and black central patch in the thorax. 

Feeds Upon:  Dendroxena sexcarinata in particular feeds upon caterpillars (including Gypsy Moth caterpillars). It is active in daylight.

Distribution: Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu. Often found in mountainous regions.
