This was one of the earlier style tests for "From Here and Queer". We wanted to convey a deep and loving relationship between a parent and queer child. I thought about the safety and love I am fortunate enough to feel with my own mother, and how she held me as a child. I hope I was able to convey that sort of softness and tenderness.

Pretty happy with the design for now, it will probably get minor revisions when I actually get to her episode in the comic.

Simultaneously horrified and excited by the WGA writers' and SAG-AFTRA actors' strikes going on now.

Horrified to hear about this proposal (that apparently is very real despite sounding insane) for studios and production companies to pay an extra or a background actor for one day of work, force them to do a motion capture-style scan, and never pay them anything further for the use of their face!

Horrified because delays and bad numbers for comic-book adaptations will slightly hurt comic-book sales.

Excited because long-term? They will win this eventually, and they will get better terms. Better treatment for TV & film writers does trickle down outrageously… outrageously slowly… eventually… to comics writers…
