white gaze
All of this Sinners controversy has brought me to the same conclusion...all the sudden snubbing and shade is all about the fact that this film was not made with nor for the white gaze. this film does not center any white characters nor do we have any white saviors. this film was created by a Black american man showcasing our history through the most honest lens without degrading or disregarding our humanity during a time in history they want us to pretend never happened.
I only hope we continue to see this kind of work from our people in these creative positions who have no desire to appease white individuals in power.
it's okay to make shit that is in the words of Stack "for us, by us!"
