In the Studio of @hannahuzor where she explores visual research of her muse Sara Forbes Bonetta and develops artistic studies for her final portrait which has now been unveiled to the public! . Our Creative Director @wr.designs_ researched the life of Sara Forbes Bonetta extensively in his 2019 Dissertation "Pageboys to Protégés, Three Centuries of Style" which explored the clothing influential black figures wore in paintings and photography of colonial Britain as a means to reinstate their position within society. (1883 - 1880), orphaned ex-slave who became Queen Victoria’s daughter. My family had to endure me working the night shift but I can now get back to sleeping normally now! Assignment over! . I watched this excellent series on catch up last week so I bought the book also by @olusoga to my shame I literally knew nothing about black British history. Black and British is a great series and well worth watching. David is an engaging presenter and shares a very moving personal experience of racism that is hard not to be affected by. 29/50 books in 2020 When Olusoga writes how "black British history is hidden in plain view" and then proceeds to explain arfefacts like the Drake Jewel or places like Bunce Island, it becomes painfully apparent how many vile people work on erasing black people from British history and culture and how many support this work with silence. Question I posed to the amazing children in my son’s school (especially to the Black children) as my friend Andrea and I alongside the Deputy Head Teacher decided to initiate a project of celebrating Black History Month for the first time in the school’s history. I watched the special but somehow missed the book. I don't actually have the audiobook for this. Also don't have time to read and not crochet. So I'm using #VoiceDreamReader. Hope I don't get bored!
