Hello new followers + Facebook page (finally!)
Photo by: TDP So since my last post, I've gotten some new followers, hello and thank you for taking a look~! :D The last month I've been busy with work and also attending SMASH! in Sydney, which continues to be one of the best cons every year. And also, I've finally opened up a cosplay facebook page!! Please follow link below Blackcrane Cosplay Slowly building up the work there, I'll post things from shoots, con pics to WIP pics, to anything I find interesting :D I will still continue posting on this blog too! For those interested in the BTS to my Hiccup cosplay, I'll looking to make a big WIP pics post tmw for it, hopefully it can help fellow cosplayers~ Thanks again all you fab creatures <3
Hey! It's the same person asking about the Hawkeye costume on DA :P Thank you so much for replying! Here come the questions, brace yourself XD I was just wondering how many layers you made the vest? I have scoured dozens of photos and I can't decide between one or two! Also how did you make those pants? The details are spot on. Thanks so much again for your time I really appreciate it :)
Hello again~! :D For the vest, I made it with two layers, mainly because the fabric I bought wasnt very thick (you could make it with just one depending on your fabric). But it was a standard black base, with pretty much everything else sewed on top (the maroon + black and pleather parts around the chest/shoulders and waist). I pretty much started by making a well fitted mock vest with scrap fabric, and then drew the design on top, cut that up and used it as pattern. As for the pants, it was actually just a pair of old black jeans that I pulled part, then sewed back together with the black sides/leg strap thingys on top. The buckles for the leg straps were made out of wonderflex, which is a thermalplastic material. But if you want to go with more common materials, craft foam sealed with PVA glue for painting will work just as well~ Hopefully that helps, let me know if you have any other questions~!
Hey there :D I love your cosplays! Just wondering: I'm interested in cosplay, but I've never made a costume myself and I have no idea where or how to start. Do you have any tips??
Hi there! Firstly, thank you for the follow, I hope you’ll enjoy my future works too <3I’ll try my best to answer your question:Firstly, making a costume is a little daunting for anyone starting off, my advice is to go for something that’s on the easier side (unless you’re one of the lucky ones that’s been sewing for years!). Something not too fitted and doesn’t require too many components :D~ Also, don’t be afraid to ask around for help! Ask friends and relatives that have a bit of sewing experience to see if they can show you how to do the more tricky parts. Sewing is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea and can take a while to get a hang of. Looking up tutorials is also a good idea, there is lots on various cosplay forums and deviantart, and usually just a general google search like ‘how to make a hakama’ , ‘how to make a sailor fuku’ etc can get you pretty good results. And another point, if you can afford to get a bit of extra cheap fabrics, making a mock version of whatever you’re doing is also good idea. That way you’re not cutting into your good fabrics straight away, and then you can try on the mock to see where you need to fix up the pattern etc~ Or alternatively, instead of making a costume from scratch, see if there’s any parts of your cosplay that can be modified from existing clothing, that way you already have the base to work off! :Db I hope that helps somehow, best of luck on making your cosplay! \o/
Hi guys! I have a cosplay tumblr now~ Please follow me there if you're interested in my cosplays/WIPs etc! http://blackcrane56-cosplay.tumblr.com/
Now this account shall be for fandom purposes, so go follow me on the other one if you don't want to be spammed by my constant screaming about movies and tv shows 8'Db
Recently we had the opportunity to form a large Cardcaptors school uniform group for a fun shoot at Luna Park~! After years of having done the moon guardian Yue, I finally cosplayed his human form, Yukito the adorkable 8'D (I totally rocked those harry potter specs okay lol) Some camwhores with the rest of the beautiful team for now, proper photos for when I have time to edit!
