for example re: zwarte piet discourse there were so many white dutch folks on my dash talking about either how its "not really blackface" (it is) or "but traditions! the kids wont understand!" etc which was. bad. but also like lots of white people getting really emotional and personal about how bad zwarte piet stuff is and stories like "my [white] little brother got called zwarte piet once this is so terrible??" like... that sucks but this issue isnt about white peoples feelings at all. instead of talking with white people about other white peoples feelings it would be nice if we could actually listen to black dutch folks and how blackface hurts them it feels like its hard for white dutch folks to understand not everything is centered around them and their feelings, their opinions are sometimes not relevant, and things can be bad or worthy of attention without relating them back to themselves and their feelings on the matter

+ using lipstick to make lips look thicker, those trends r so tiring

sorry but I don't think that was blackface? it said in the caption "spaceship by camper", and it is not the black skin color, it's dark metalic, like a "spaceship" would be. I don't believe it's a racial thing,but I might be wrong idk.

even if it's not intentional, it is blackface. also what do you mean it's not "the black skin color". you do know that there are people whose skin tone resemble that right

holy shit. i saw tropic thunder when it came out. i never even realised that was rdj in blackface what the fuck. they had a white actor do an ENTIRE MOVIE in blackface rather thn just hiring a black actor thats so fucked up
