Add some rich Gruyere cheese, salty Black Forest ham, and sweet fig jam to your grilled cheese to boost its flavor. This gourmet sandwich has just the right amount of each flavor and texture.
Ingredients: 2 slices of sourdough bread. 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. 1/2 cup of shredded Gruyere cheese. 2 slices of Black Forest ham. 2 tablespoons of fig jam.
Instructions: Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat. Layer half of the shredded Gruyere cheese on top of the bread in the skillet. Add the Black Forest ham slices on top of the cheese. Spread fig jam on the other slice of sourdough bread and place it on top of the ham, jam-side down. Press down gently and cook until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until it's golden brown and the cheese is fully melted, about another 3-4 minutes. Remove the sandwich from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then cut it in half diagonally. Serve your delicious Gruyere Grilled Cheese with Black Forest Ham and Fig Jam hot and enjoy!
