There were a lot things Albus wanted to say     that he could see him underneath everything (but that probably wasn't entirely true), that this wasn't the time for romance (but who knew when that time would come?), that he knew nothing of love and couldn't give him any advice. But he didn't voice any of the thoughts going through his head, instead only nodding slowly and giving a light shrug.

"She sounds brilliant, James, honestly. You should go for her. Merlin knows that if anyone here deserves some happiness it's you."

kiss (From James)

The kiss only lasted for a few moments, but it managed to catch her completely off guard. Leaning back slightly on the couch, she gazed at James with a quizzical expression on her face. Barbara was used to physical displays of affection, often initiating them herself in her various relationships, but kisses hadn’t been present in their friendship before and she wasn’t sure what the change meant. 

"Uh," she started, before shaking her head at herself. She was prone to over thinking things and turning them into something they weren’t, but she would not make that mistake now. Friends could kiss, and she wouldn’t put James in an awkward position when his intentions were likely perfectly harmless.”Okay, then. Do you want some ice cream? I’m feeling chocolate,” she offered, getting up from the couch with her usual warm smile evident on her face.

"Some promises aren't worth keeping." (James + Barbara)

"What makes you say that?" She stared at him quietly, but if she expected a response she didn’t get one. A small part of her hoped that if she studied him carefully enough the answer would reveal itself as if by magic, but his expression didn’t betray any of his thoughts and she was left unsure of what to do next. She rolled her bottom lip into her mouth, hoping that her eyes didn’t clearly display all that she felt; pity was surely the last thing he needed then. But he was so young. Far too young for all that he’d been through. Far too young to have to carry it all on his own. 

"Maybe you’re right. Maybe not all promises are. But some are worth it, some are important. Some promises can make a difference.” She paused for a moment, continuing in a quieter voice. ”So… please. Promise me you won’t go through it alone    whatever it is that’s weighing you down. You don’t have to deal with everything on your own. It’s okay to lean on someone. Your siblings or cousins or… anyone. And I know it’s not my place to say any of this, but I felt like it was important to get out.”

     The Slytherin girl looked around to find a few of their peers staring at them, their eyes narrowed at the two girls as though they were their targets. Chuckling at the people’s reactions, she turned away and nodded in agreement at what the Gryffindor had just said.

          ❝I agree on some level, but I also feel like morning sex is definitely up there. I mean, it’s nice and calm, you’re not getting drilled like the pavement in muggle London.❞
