I wouldn’t blame someone if they were interested in this woman’s story. The black community is known for being religious in either subscribing to a Christian or Islamic perspective. Here, Mandisa Thomas shows us just how someone can arrive to such a conclusion of atheism considering how much progressive ideas and people have been apart of the black community’s civil rights history.
Humans
I wish I was stupid and oblivious and happily dull. And I wish I wasn't a Humanist. Because human beings are infuriating. We willingly check out from the duty of looking out for one another. We have all the potential in the universe to be great and do great things, but we settle for less. We shrug off and dismiss logic. And will believe anything. Simply existing with other human beings drives me crazy right now.
