Spent the whole day figuring out how to make my first ever circle skirt lol. It was pretty straightforward, but I didn't have the faith in myself to make a square neck tank top style bodice and build a full dress, so I cheated and sewed a Lululemon crop babydoll tee to the skirt to make a half-assed skater dress lol.
I actually really like the way the skirt came out, even though it looks sloppy and needs a more structurally sound top to hold it together (the Lululemon shirt is super soft jersey and stretches like crazy with just the weight of the skirt attached), so maybe after the party I can work on making a real bodice for it, or just return in to its natural state as a stand alone skirt.
I got a neon, uv reactive tie dye kit, and dyed my new dress and one of my husband's neon yellow shirts, at his request. My uv reactive makeup pallet arrived on time, though just a smidge damaged. I'm not too worried about it though.
HOWEVER, my husband is absolutely convinced he caught the flu from our friend's kid. He felt so sick all day, and isn't sure he'll be feeling any better (or not be contagious) by Friday, so the whole thing might be for nothing!! We'll see.
I'm honestly pretty proud of myself for cobbling together this dress lol. I've been wanting to make my own clothes for so long but have been intimidated by it. I know the skirt is pretty low quality, and it was made from a thrifted tablecloth lol, but I am glad I just said fuck it and tried!! It can only get better with practice!
