Lack of Darkness

From my Black Black Gold series. Choosing to live in light seems logical but is not the same as living without darkness. Confronting the creeping darkness takes courage but no war on it is needed, only keeping it at bay, making it want to join, wanting to recede, to allow the light. We were made from light after all, and we are not helpless against the dark.

Try Your Hardest

From my Black Black Gold series. How we treat those we do not have to treat well says much about us. Making others suffer seems dismissable when one can. Harming others seems sensible when one has been taken advantage of. Assuming power in absence of resistance seems logical. Being open is being vulnerable, promising pain. We must be more than mere creatures however.

The Pressure of Closeness

From my Black Black Gold series. And as the porcupines moved closer and apart again, they eventually found a distance that kept them warm but did not sting so much. Seeing oneself as the only one able to feel is a hurtful solipsism granting solitude that first requires scary self-sacrifice to improve.

Rage Against the Night

From my Black Black Gold series. Light is not the only thing that grants visibility but the easiest. Its legendary quality of making us see however must be preserved at all costs, and those that see must lead the blind lest they stumble fearfully through the darkness, only able to hear each others' screams.
