This one has been sitting here unpublished for a while now… painted in late 2025: acrylics and acrylic marker on carton, ~50×60cm.

I had just discovered using stencils for my work and warmed up to acrylic markers for thin lines. I loosely covered the canvas in washes of the base colours, then needed to weight it down to keep it from curving too much. I then painted from background to foreground. The pink and blue parts are unmixed paints straight from the tube. The yellow string was drawn with a Posca acylic marker. It's yellow, so it's not 100% opayuq but close enough; I was horrified at the thought of doing it with brushes. For the abstract cityscape in the background, I used sculptor's knives - flat metal blades with no handle in different shapes, including straight edges. The windows have a lot of white mixed in to get some oapcity.

The painting is a wordplay on the saying that at night all cats are grey. I always thought people just said that, but now that I own a grey cat I can only say - they are practically INVISIBLE at twilight. It's uncanny. My black cats are still visible as absence of light at least.

Are Bingo Cards already out of Fashion?

I only just started making bingo cards for the year last year and - maybe because it made me pay attention to bingo-related jokes, I feel like it's seen as something, what's the word, overly sugary? Toxically positive? In any case, it seems people are tired of hearing about other people's real or metaphorical bingo cards. I guess I lost confidence talking about mine in the process. Not that I talk about it all day, it's for me after all, not for you. But maybe in using it, too?

Honestly, I am not much of an #achievements hunter.
