Tied to a Tree and Left for Ogres in episode 2x05 “The Doctor”
Convinced Killian’s lying about who he is and what he’s after, Emma has Mulan tie him to a tree and brings their location to the attention of some nearby ogres with a shrill whistle. The four ladies then gather their things and set off, forcing Killian to choose between coming clean or taking his chances with the ogre.
Hollye, in 2.05 when Killian is posing as a blacksmith, doesn't Mulan say that he joined a few months prior? So he's probably not completely lying about being a blacksmith then right?
Having not seen the episode in a while, I don't remember how long Mulan said he'd been around, but considering Hook only had one hand and was playing up the injury, I don't think he was doing any smithing in the camp. He just told them he was a blacksmith that lost his hand in an ogre attack and needed asylum.
I'm sure if Hook had wanted to learn and become proficient at blacksmithing, he could have, but I kind of doubt he did. However... Do we know what Brennan did for a living before deciding to adopt the rowboat? He could have been a smith, and Killian had knowledge of the occupation from his experience of having a blacksmith as a father in order to help him sell the ruse??
If I have to look at this ridiculous cuteness, then so do all of you.

I don’t even know, man. You tie the man to a fucking tree and he makes these kinds of ridiculous faces. I mean, we joke about how life is a photoshoot for this man, but seriously... look at this shit. Dressed in rags, tied to a tree... and he looks like he’s modeling some kind of new avant garde “rags and ropes” line for some magazine or other. He is an absolute menace.

After catching him in his lies, Emma still can’t get Hook to come clean and tell the truth. They tie him to a tree, whistle to get the attention of some ogres and threaten to leave him to die. It’s not until they’re actually leaving him that he finally breaks. Emma comes back to question him, with the ogres getting ever closer the whole time...
