they met during a league event and hit it off immediately

i had never heard "enchanted" before making that playlist so when i listened to it for the first time, i immediately saw the scene in my head of them meeting and i might have started crying

they kept in regular contact after that, spending late nights talking about anything and everything, sometimes even falling asleep while on a call with each other (whether intentionally or unintentionally)

i think that's the most romantic shit ever, what do you mean i'm biased–

steven would send cynthia pics of rocks he'd found. if this man says, "i saw this pretty rock and thought of you" you're like. one of his favorite people.

and this was BEFORE they started officially dating

who confessed first? cynthia, probably. i feel like she'd be more straightforward about it.

there was a whole "what are we?" talk and everything

being long-distance wasn't quite ideal but when does life ever go exactly as planned? they wouldn't necessarily choose it if it were anyone else, they were each other's exception.

not that it changed anything, since they were already acting like a couple before that.

while neither of them particularly believed in the idea of soulmates (at least not how soulmates are commonly depicted) they would definitely say that they found their "one".

steven eventually moves to sinnoh to be with cynthia

i saw this post and i'm like. yeah. that's them. they'd be like that.

debates are their love language and their idea of fun. it could range from real academic debates to something absolutely silly (like "is water wet?")

i associate them with black onyx, light blue star sapphire, and celestite. although steven would associate cynthia more with yellow topaz.

if they wore wedding rings they'd probably have the stone that reminds them of each other (so cynthia would have a gold band with a light blue star sapphire, and steven would have a silver ring that matches the other rings he has, but with a yellow topaz)

steven would do literally ANYTHING for cynthia (i hesitate to use the word "whipped" like others do but. well)

there's no talking steven out of naming his kids geology names, and cynthia agrees... within reason. celeste is one of the names high up on the list because 1) cynthia's heritage and 2) well. celestite, as linked above. second is morgan, after morganite.

my fankid OC sarah, was actually named morgan before she made it her middle name instead. (morgan is such a good name, i wish that i had thought about the whole geology thing before naming her 😅)

there's a detriment to not using ff.net regularly, and that's not having a bookmark list to go off of!! so I'll give you some of my ao3 bookmarks first (it apparently took so long to answer the original ask that someone added their work to a private collection 😭)

Distance by oblivionstar — I'm such a sucker for fics where they're long distance and/or can't be seen in public together!!! I have a note written for this bookmark (rare), which is a quote from the fic: "It's obvious that you care for everything that is good in this world, despite all of its flaws, and you show it with such poise and brilliance. It's just one of the endless things I love about you, Cynthia."
