▤ = falling asleep on them and ☮ = waking them up after a nightmare. fitting these together should be fun -Cissnei
“Rough” was an understatement to describe this most recent mission. Infiltration was tough enough; the battles that followed left both he and Cissnei looking worse for wear. Reno found himself thinking on more than one occasion that he was glad Cissnei was his teammate in this. She was fast and efficient, and thought to carry plenty of remedies. Their targets favored Silence magic, something he personally hated.
Reno also hated missions with long travel times, especially when he could not do the transporting himself. He let this be known, loudly and endlessly, to Cissnei as the boarded the ship that would take them back to the main continent. After he had given both her and himself a thorough once over with a cure materia, he’d promptly sat down against her and complained until he drifted off to sleep, head on her shoulder.
{They were in the midst of battle once again, but instead of ten enemies attacking at once, there are fifty. He’s lost Cissnei, but there’s no time to find her with the constant gunfire. He’s been shot in his left arm and wields his EMR in his right– Thank the Planet he’s ambidextrous. But they’re screwed, dead. There’s no way out, and why can’t he find Cissnei?
Suddenly the faceless people clear a path, and Cissnei is laying in a pool of her own blood on the floor ten feet from him. ‘She’s been there the whole time?! Why didn’t she call, or scream?!’ He runs to her and drops to a knee to roll her over. A bullet whizzes past his ear as he gets a look at her eyes, wide as she nears death, her mouth sealed shut by a silence spell. Silenced. Cissnei has been dying, mere feet away, but she couldn’t even scream for help. His vision closes in around him, and he feels as though he’s forgetten how to breathe. She can’t die on him!
“Cissnei! Ciss-”}
“-nei!” he gasped, jerking awake.
Dream. He wasn’t fighting just now, he had a nightmare. But Cissnei…!
… Was right beside him, miraculously still asleep. With her mouth closed. Silenced. Irrational as he knew the sudden fear to be, he put his hands on her shoulders and gave her a quick shake. “Cissnei…!”
