Quick question for anyone who "blackwashes" a WHITE character. Is it really considered representation to make a character Black, when they never were Black? I'll proudly say it doesn't count if the character was Black, and became White to other people. However, this "blackwashing" stuff is as bad as whistewashing. Why? Because you're drawing something that a person never was born as.
Why do people blackwash characters. Doesn't matter what they are, doesn't even have to he white, they can be Spanish, and they still blackwash them.
fixed your black-washed miku, @snufasin
whitewashing and blackwashing
please do not attack artists for drawing characters a different skin tone when you do the exact same thing. if you do that, you’re a hypocrite. it doesn’t matter if you make the skin tone lighter or darker. you can change some features of a character to make them easier to draw, like if they have ombre hair you can make it two colors instead of fading into it but changing skin tone is not one of those options. if you want a character that is black has blue hair and is extremely skinny or a white character that has white hair and is overweight if you want but don’t change another character to do so.
of course, you don’t have to listen to me because this is my opinion but i would appreciate it if you took this into consideration

To all the people constantly worried about whitewashing and blackwashing.
There is only one thing I really want to say, so hear me out.
It is only fair to fight for something if you believe is wrong or to support something in you believe is right.
But.
COSPLAY. IS. JUST. FOR. FUN.
COSPLAY. IS. JUST. A. HOBBY.
COSPLAY IS SHOWING YOUR LOVE FOR A CHARACTER YOU REALLY APRECIATE, NOTHING MORE.
If you are white and you want to cosplay as a black character by painting your skin a darker colour IT’S OK.
If you are white and you want to cosplay as a black character while keeping your skin colour IT’S OK, it’s just less accurate.
If you are black and you want to cosplay as a white character by painting your skin a lighter colour IT’S OK.
If you are black and you want to cosplay as a white character while keeping your skin colour IT’S OK, it’s just less accurate.
No matter your skin, body or ethnicity, cosplay is what allows you to be whoever you want. The only boundary is your imagination.
Can we say it all togheter?
COSPLAY. IS. JUST. A. HOBBY.
Stop shaming cosplayers for doing what they like.
If a girl can cosplay a male character and vice versa, a black person can cosplay a white character and vice versa.
No matter you skin, body, gender, sexuality or religion, cosplay is all about being someone we are not in real life.
So please leave us cosplayers out of this nonsense, if you whant to argue about whitewashing or blackwashing you have more suitable people to accuse of whatever you want.
Thank you.
