Black women die from heart issues at an alarming rate but why....our Hearts endure so much....weakened by poverty,by misogyny,by abuse,violence,having to grow up to fast,holding up our kids,families + partners, and the world on our shoulders....and add on injustice and the other oppressive systems we endure daily...you get Stress which = inflammation. - We just can’t bear the weight of change alone oppression will slowly kill us.We can’t see more of our brothers and sisters shot down in cold blood,profiled,locked up in jails w/o bail and/or with excessive sentences,and isolated as the new slaves. The stress of injustice has a ripple effect,breaking our hearts and wearing us all down.Sometimes we beat it & sometimes we become shells of who we were. That was my experience after my hearings + sentencing. I will never know how much my experience with injustice impacted my mother or her health but I know it did. - Here we are BIPOC dealing with politics who see our children as monsters.Add on Educational systems that teach our kids how to blindly follow and take orders. Religious systems forced onto us by our oppressors become one of our only sources of comfort. ironically tying our liberation into our faith.Self-Care what is that? - All the while we are suppose to bear the weight of changing this system while trying to survive it. - Dismantling this system is what the collective must bear not more BIPOC bodies we’ve carried the weight of an oppressive system for so long sacrificing our education(mind),health (bodies),and Spiritual heritage (spirit). This is not emancipation!!! - So How can we create the world we want to live in. We were pulled over by tx police @ 11pm.My husband asked to get out the car. I was questioned repeatedly about using crack + meth + if I had large sums of money. Questioned why I am moving across country and if my son was really my son. Fear came over me as those lights flickered behind our car...how anyone could think going through this was ok. It was such a traumatic experience last night that shook us to our core. ....Then the universe answered and I got this message in my email..... - ...giving up is not the answer. Neither is giving in.Stand your ground without having to be combative.There is a way of hanging on to your true self, and demonstrating it, w/o resorting to aggression.giving up and giving in is not the way.Simply and quietly claiming your right to be You is the way. - I won't let this experience ruin and taint my adventure. It won't make me bitter and be full of rage. I won't give in to this fucked up system one created to destroy,control,and give the population the illusion of separation from POC. - The im not giving up and I'm not giving in...Until these experiences no longer exists I will fucking resist. - Spiritual Bae is my activism.
