#blackwork embroidery

This is an idea I've been playing around with for awhile, and I finally worked out a design I'm happy with. The outer fill patterns combine where their sections overlap, and the resulting patterns are more intricate than their component motifs would suggest. Blackwork embroidery on blue 14-count Aida cloth.

Little Kaiju

using a sampler pattern from @loosethreadstitchery and a couple mandalas i found on etsy.

i put it on the back of my tom cardy tote bag because i didn’t want to have another piece that needed a space on the wall.

This took more than a month to make. I knew it was going to take a while but not over a month. Should have expected it tho.

This is going to be a christmas gift to my grandparents. I was going to make another one (with a different pattern) to my other grandparents, but they will have to get that one after christmas.

The pattern was made in figma (which is free). Honestly I have almost no idea how that program works. Whenever I'm confused by something I have to google it. The individual patterns are from pinterest.

I still have to iron and frame this. The pattern is 8x24 cm, so definitely the biggest thing I've ever made. Still, it's not super big. For future projects I want to have a more clear theme. Honestly I made the majority of this pattern after I had started the project, I would probably change some of the boxes if I could start over.

Anyway I'm suuuuuper proud of how this came out. Though now the idea of anything bigger is starting to scare me 😅

Finished a blackwork embroidery project. This is “Overlay Blackwork Sampler” by @loosethreadstitchery

This took me about two months, on and off. It’s stitched on 28ct “blue spruce” linen - the designer stitched it on a dark blue fabric, but since I’d just done another project on blue, I wanted a change. This shade is gorgeous and still has a great contrast with the white.
