this is rant but also i guess a little bit of info for non australians but as an aboriginal person it feels like both online and in real life (but for the sake of this post mainly online) there is no community for blakfullas. genuinely i do not know any current popular blak creators, celebrities, people on tumblr or instagram or anywhere that are people i know in real life. and some of this is my fault, but most of it is because i think we are never allowed to have our own online space because australia is really fucking racist. for a country that literally tried to breed out the indigenous populations, you mob seem really ignorant to the fact that some of us are lightskin and that being lightskin doesn’t make us any less blak. if i hear anymore 1% shit i’m gonna punch a cunt. i swear not one fucking normal blakfulla can exist without everyone trying to tell them they aren’t blak enough.
and so there’s no online community for blakfullas, because we’re so worn out from trying to defend our fucking existence that we don’t have the energy for it. i need more blak artists in my life. this shit is exhausting
i’ve spent so long worrying about proving that im ‘blak enough’. what a waste of my time. i have always been blak and that has never been up for debate. so im going to act like it
afropunk communities and the like, i admire what you have and simultaneously am disappointed i don’t have it for myself. thank you for being a source of faith and hope for me so i can now find and build that for myself
Had a real fun experience being in the studio audience for NITV’s Big Backyard Quiz today. My face hurt from smiling!
