So, I saw this thing about trans Snape And I think that having a canon trans character in Harry Potter would be AMAZING But Not Snape. I know everyone up to JK Rowling is a Snape apologist, and I guess I can get where you would be coming from if you look at Snape's motives and not his actions But his actions exist Severus Snape tormented a pre-teen boy whose parents had been tortured into insanity until at 13-years-old, His Potions Master was Neville Longbottom's worst fear Severus Snape -ruined- a mans life and his only chance at steady employment because Remus Lupin helped an innocent man escape the worst fate imaginable Lily Evans realized that her friendship with Snape was toxic. That's why she ended the friendship. Yes, being called 'Mudblood' was the breaking point, but Lily mentions having talked to Snape about being uncomfortable with the Death Eater Jr crew that Snape was hanging around with, but if you've ever had a group of bigots hate you before then you wouldn't want your best friend to be hanging out with them and agreeing with what they were saying either. Lily was faced with her best friend not only ingratiating himself with people who hated her because of how she was born, but actually agreeing with them. Loudly. In front of everyone. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be down for that either. What I'm trying to say is Severus Snape is a bad guy. He is a terrible person with good motives. Make a cannon trans character in Harry Potter But make it a hero, or at least not a villain Make it Trans Sirius Black, who was such a disappointment to his family. Who was the black sheep before he even got sorted. Trans Sirius Black who is put in the boys dorm with no question. Who makes the best friends in his life, who he would die and kill for. Who ran away to the Potters and was, for the first time in his life, called Son. Make it Trans Remus Lupin, who hated that he would never be in control of his own body. Whose identity was stolen with the full moon of every month. Trans Remus Lupin who came to Hogwarts and found people who accepted him wholly. Who referred to his changes as anything but 'his monthly problems'. Trans Remus Lupin who was finally so secure in himself that he carried Nymphadora Tonks's child, even though he was terrified what the werewolf would do or what would happen to Tonks if the werewolf killed both their child and him. Make it Lily and James, who were like stars colliding in the night, a meteor shower all the time. Who were bright, and beautiful, and loud all the time, whether James was annoying Lily asking her for dates, or later when their love was so palpable that everyone around them was at least grudgingly happy for them. Trans Lily and James who had baby Harry and loved loved him with equal beauty and brightness. Trans James who sent Lily up after their Son because he knew Lily doesn't tolerate pure nonsense so she will make herself live for Harry, because he can't live without her. Please make the Trans character someone who loves, brightly and passionately.
