Q: “How do you guys do anniversary gifts?”
Blake: “She was filming The Voice on the day of our anniversary. They’re the longest days that we experience as spoiled entertainers. Especially for Gwen, she gets up at like 5 a.m and works till 10 or 11 at night. She came in that morning right before she left, and she had already gone through her glam and stuff and she was literally walking out the door, and she had a box, and she was like, ‘This is really stupid, but I looked it up and the three-year anniversary traditional gift is leather.’ And so, I opened this box and it was like leather scented things that you hang in your truck over the rearview mirror, and leather phone case or something like that. And she was like, ‘I know it’s dumb, but it was last minute and I gotta go.’ So that was this year. Our first-year anniversary was a little more special. We had actual gifts and had a moment, but this year was like, ‘Hey, we made it three years, I’ll see you later!’”
Q: “What did you do for her?”
Blake: “GoldBelly is like this app where you can order food from restaurants from all across the country. I had ordered some cakes and things. She loves Italian desserts. I ordered some Italian desserts that we ate the next day, which was Fourth of July. That’s what I did. It was messed up, I’m embarrassed. It wasn’t the best, I admit it.”

Q: “What is the secret to your strong relationship? How do you keep it strong and better than ever?”
Blake: “The fun thing about that, we don’t really have to work on that, you know. I don’t know why. She’s my best friend, that’s the best way I know to say it. It’s not something that we really have to think about, it’s just there and we have fun with it. Maybe that’s the key, we have so much fun together, whether we’re having a cup of coffee in the morning, or watching a movie, or performing in an arena somewhere. We literally just have so much fun together.”

Gwen: “Look how cute my husband is! You could tell, he has the energy of like, ‘My wife told me to do this.’ He had never been to Europe. I’ve been threatening him for like 9 years: ‘I’m taking you. I’m taking you. I’m taking you’. And then it was his birthday. It was my oldest’s 18th birthday, my other’s 16th birthday. I was like, ‘We’re going.’ It took like a year to plan it. I’ve never gone on a vacation like that, ever. It was really over the top. Every day was like, ‘Okay, at the lobby at 10:00 a.m. and your guide will be there to tell you about the latest whatever history that’s been happening.’”

Gwen: “We had so much fun. If I did it again, I would definitely do less stuff.”

“Our middle son Zuma has also been working on - he has been working on music all this time as well. The only difference is Zuma is a dyed-in-the-wool country singer. So, Gwen’s influence is all over Kingston’s music and finally I have some influence on one of the kids. He found this on his own. Kids are growing up - they are getting all kinds of stuff thrown at them these days and he’s decided that he’s a country guy. He’s pretty much grown up half the time out here in Oklahoma, right here in Tishomingo.”
