IXtober day 4: "Blank..."
Actually the more I think about it the more I think Blank is a frankenstein monster sort of deal. Like he's not some guy that defied the odds and was sewn together. Instead he was literally created this way. His name being Blank also gives the impression that he doesn't recall his past or didn't have a personality or sapience at the start.
Idk I just feel like there's a lot of potential for a really interesting side story here. Maybe he walked about as a mindless creature before Tantalus found him. Like a black mage. Show me the hidden frankenstein village, square.
Or maybe they just had fun with a spooky design and that's that. Oh Blank, we're really in it now. Please go steal some pants from someone's laundry line.

Anyway you know what I want to know? Why does Blank FFIX look like that. Why is he like. Patchwork. Like he was once blown to smithereens and someone sewed him back together. Also why is his outfit exclusively belts. He's literally running around in his undies with a belt over his eyes. I get that it's silly fantasy design but the rest of Tantalus has fairly normal outfits?
It's like all the boys have to wear tons of belts for their outfits, Tantalus signature I guess, and they had limited clothes to share. Clothes must be hard to come by even for thieves well off enough to run a theater. By the time it was Cinna's turn they already didn't have much left so for Blank they only had leather panties and some accessories.
Even within a world that just has all kinds of furry creatures and random blue skinned humans with no explanation, Blank feels like an outlier. Because of the patchwork not the undies, you see plenty of soldiers in thongs in that game. Very epic.
If we ever get that animated series or even a remake (manifest with me), I really hope they expand on Blank.
He can stay exactly as is btw, I just really want to know what his deal is. He's clearly showing off all his scars and patches with pride - tell us what the story is!
