Sunset Over An Awesome Weekend 12 March 2017
After a 102km ride, lunch out, and a 300km drive home, I simply had to sprint across the park at Lake Monger to capture Sunday's utterly breathtaking sunset. I was agog with awe all along the freeway as we raced past the river, so I made The Husb pull over at the lake after our exit and got my tired cyclist’s legs running to take photos before the sky faded to grey (at which point Rob caught up for a selfie).
I thought I’d share my sleep patterns with you too. I sleep like the dead! I had my nephew’s birthday celebration to attend when we reached Perth, so didn’t even get seven hours’ sleep after the ride, but I slept like a log. The same goes for today’s after-work nap - I just don’t move once I’m asleep!

Story - summarized
Two-thousand years ago, Cloud Empire suffered wars and plagues. General Mingyi did her best to help the people, but then she herself fell victim to one of the mythical beasts.
Chengyun rode to her safety, using his dragon pearl to pull her from the cursed fog. He lived as a hermit in the nearby mountain, and he brought her to his home to heal her. To her surprise, he had manuscripts about the war and possible solutions. Mingyi kept asking him to join the war efforts and help others.
Finally, he explained the reason for his hermit lifestyle. He used to frequent a city and discuss politics with its mayor. The city was paradise - until a drought hit. The mayor begged Chengyun to save them with the dragon pearl, to use it to summon rain, but the young man couldn't control its powers and ended up drowning the city and killing the mayor. Ever since, Chengyun has lived on his own, fearful of causing another disaster rather than ending one.
Mingyi still urged him to reconsider, and then she left with her troops. Chengyun took her words to heart and would come down the mountain to visit Banyan Town and heal the sick. He still knew there were other mythical beasts causing trouble, like the one that hurt Mingyi, but he still couldn't control the dragon pearl.
But when a wildfire swept through Banyan Town, he had no choice but to use the dragon pearl. Thankfully, Mingyi had arrived with her soldiers to evacuate the people, and she used her phoenix to summon a strong wind that quelled the extra rain.
For the first time, Chengyun felt in control of the powers and how to use them. So, he joined Mingyi in riding across Cloud Empire and ending the wars. Later, they ruled side by side as benevolent and wise emperor and empress.
Connections
-We first visit Banyan Town in Yexiao's Reflection from the Pinnacle Battle, Spring Forest. She used to live there until it was "flooded" by the Ocean of Memories.
-Another dragon-like creature tied to the rain is the Kirin from Emperor Siming's memories in All Is Non-Being. The rains wouldn't stop until Siming got Wenren Dian's help to trap the Kirin.
-The New Year's event Soaring Light Across Nine Fields, Embrace the Moon explains that the Dragon God rules over water. Nikki must go with Chongli to ask the Dragon God to end the drought and fix the Moon Mirror.
Fun Facts
-This hell event first introduced Heart Bloom pieces. For Chengyun's suit, it's a dragon ring but it falls under the Body category.
-Under the Audio section in the Index, Chengyun reveals that he made Mingyi's phoenix scepter.
