Sorry, am I the only one thinking of Ichi and Rukia have been given little space together in the last arc while her relationship with Byakuya has been more developed? ~ Byaruki random stuff, for sure ♥
Headcanon that on the eve of Rukia's execution Byakuya goes into the white tower to meet her for the last time. He asks her to look at him (after so many years, omg!) and slight caresses her cheek. That's why Rukia is very impressed to see him at Sougyouku Hill, and that's why Byakuya cuts her off so harshly after she's about to die.
