His robophobia is more harmful than Ouma's. Plenty of things he would do for the others, he wouldn't do for Kiibo. Like how they invited Shirogane and Yumeno to train with them after the 5th trial. And they bonded together with "Do robots even need to train?" To justify not inviting Kiibo anyway.
Right. Kiibo can still go to one of the earlier events even if his robot status is picked at there. And hell, he’s not exactly doing much there either, setting aside the weird idea he ‘wouldn’t get anything out of training’ in the first place (thanks Maki...). Robots might not need to ‘flex their muscles’ but you never know if it might help. Besides, let him just be there and be company as Tsumugi had said. Don’t just leave him alone especially after what happened to him with the antenna; for all they know he could be under shock with a malfunction, so y’know maybe leaving him alone wasn’t the best idea, nor particularly kind.
It’s only a convenient thing for them that it turned out for the better- that is, Kiibo was able to defy the hijacking, and blast open areas for them. But the poor faith this was done in speaks volumes. Meanwhile as harsh as Ouma can be at times with the way he says things, he also makes it pretty clear he’s impressed by who Kiibo really is under all the ‘pretense’ (read: code), while these guys barely even accept Kiibo with anything other than the lukewarm even on the surface.
