The Yugioh MC cast is so funny when you think about it because it's just:

- A highschooler who likes playing games and the millennia-old spirit of an Egyptian Pharaoh who also Really Likes Playing Games

- A traumatized (but he doesn't know it) highschooler turned eldritch monster and his non-binary demon partner/soulmate

- A guy who likes motorcycles

- A middle schooler and the amnesiac alien trapped in the necklace he got from his dead father

- A 14-year-old aspiring entertainer who makes the fact that he has Super DID the entire world's (worlds?) problem

- A traumatized (but he knows it) highschooler fueled by spite, revenge and a bit of homosexuality

- An 8-year-old kid

- A 10,000 year-old alien who is convinced the one thing that will end the intergalactic war that has been led for millennias is a card game format created by aforementioned-8-year-old-kid

Honorary mention to manga/season 0 Yugi and Yami who were really just Guy With The Worst Life Ever and the deranged ancient egyptian pharaoh's spirit who took one look at him and went yeah i'm gonna kill people for him (this is also DID in a way)

May I introduce you to yet another of my favorite not-even-in-the-same-series relationships

I got too lazy and didn't finish the first drawing. Hence the lack of duel blades and the stiff poses lol

It might not be obvious since I've barely mentioned her before, but Ray is my most favorite character in Arc V. She barely appears, but in the very little screentime she has she just keeps on being an absolute badass. She low diffed Zarc 2 times, the first one while he was at the absolute peak of his power, and gave them both Super DID to save the world. My goat

Anyways lol. I just think Judai and Ray would be immediate besties. They're both selfless, heroic, and have transcended the human plane of existence at least once + Ray can also hear (and probably see) duel spirits and cares a lot for them, and she seemed like someone who had a pure love for dueling, so they would definitively get along on this part. I also think it would be really funny for Ray to know two Supreme Kings on whom she has very different opinions lol

What's up with Yugioh and their characters with their deeply intertwined themes of darkness and love

Something something darkness is the source of life in the Yugiohverse, and what is life if not love? What is life even worth if there's no love to give or receive?

Stardust Dragon and Black Rose Dragon both being girls (if we take the Cross Duel icons as confirmation) makes Faithshipping spiritually yuri, canonically. Let that sink in

I've been thinking of something. When Yusuke talks about the darkness in Johan's heart, he describes it as "the moon devouring the sun", basically an eclipse. But who's the moon and who's the sun in this situation?

I've always interpreted it as Judai being the moon and Johan as the sun, both because that's kinda the "roles" they play in this part of s4 but also because of the moon or moon-adjacent thingie shadowing Johan's "heart". Or something lmao. But it could very well be the opposite too.

Forever angry at Konami for not expanding more on Judai's powers (and also on psychic duelists in general) because my powerscaling-lover self can't properly scale him since Konami constantly contradicts themselves.

"This guy bears the soul of the strongest monster spirit that has ever existed" and there are like 3 "strongest monster spirits" per new spin off. "Bearer of the Gentle Darkness" okay. I thought I knew what that meant but nowadays I don't think so. Then they vaguely go back (do they??) on their words and pull something like "actually..... mayyybe he can only make Neos real and really nothing else? I don't knowww"

"You are something beyond human comprehension now" <- is still affected by powers that can only affect humans, but only sometimes, because on other occasions they remember he's not supposed to and he gains immunity. Bro.

What I always find incredibly funny is how in GX you had people getting blown up and screaming their lungs out because of the pain taking a hit would cause, but then sometimes they would go "oh don't worry it's just Solid Vision it won't hurt you" and then right after "what??? the monster came to life????". Brother you were getting electrocuted by Sparkman 3 episodes ago why is that surprising to you

I wish people talked more about Johan as a duelist, because if you pay attention to his duels you'll notice that he's actually insanely strong. He's possibly stronger than s4 Judai (like post-fusion, destroyed-the-Light-of-Destruction-Judai), he was the very last person standing alongsides Judai when Fujiwara/Darkness started taking over the world (meaning he won against all of the Truemans when nobody else could), he was arguably going to win against full-power Hell Kaiser (not even Yubel did that because Ryo was already dying when they started their duel), the only time he's ever lost was in a friendly duel with Judai when he was missing Rainbow Dragon so not at his full power (he was also not taking the duel very seriously), he won against Yubel and all three of the Sacred Beasts, ect...

People talk a lot about him character-wise especially in relation to Judai, which. Well it's kinda hard to not do that considering his plot purpose. But most of the time they won't even talk about how his similarities with Judai also englobe his dueling skills. He's genuinely goated. I would even go as far as to say he's in the top 5 of GX, and he'd be top 10 of the entire franchise (and i am NOT joking!!) if the writers actually knew what they were doing half of the time
