They call him the Blind Prophet. The Unseeing Savior. Emrys. What they don’t know is the agony such titles puts on him, and what others lost in order for such a title to be gained.

This is a story idea that I’ve been hammering out for a while now, one of a few that I feel are incredibly strong and may release alongside An Arranged Marriage.
Merlin, unable to bear watching Morgana struggle with her nightmares, decided to do something about it. However, instead of taking her to the Druids, he decided to find out if he can remove her prophetic abilities himself using a series of spells. Determining he can, despite Kilgarrah’s arguments to the contrary and Gaius's reluctant agreement, he confronts Morgana with his magic and the offer to potentially rid her of these nightmares forever.
She agrees.
This leads to disastrous results.
With the powerful prophetic abilities removed from Morgana and nowhere to go, in an explosion the power latches onto Merlin, and coupled with the immense abilities of his magic, the prophecies are now tenfold in strength and fear. But the destruction of his eyesight in the process, which now glow like the night sky, and his tears leaking golden light? No one is sure why. Perhaps a physical punishment by Destiny, for daring to get in the way of its plans. Perhaps it's just what happens when you give a creature of magic the ability to see all possible futures.
Now with Merlin blind and constantly bombarded with agonizing visions and Morgana burdened with unbearable guilt for his suffering, the two work together to learn to cope and grow from their new chosen path of Fate, and protect the kingdom the two call home.
