Can You Be A Blind-Follower?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to blind-follow (people) in the Dīn (ie: Religion) of Allah, ولا يجوز لمسلم أن يقلد في دين الله، Even al-ʿāmī (ie: the layman). حتى ولا العامي He is to ask (regarding an issue) about (its evidence from) the Book of Allah and Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. يسأل عن كتاب الله وعن سنة رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم- al-ʿāmī is included under the Statement of Allah the Exalted: {Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow not any Auliyāʾ, besides Him. Little do you remember!} [7:3] والعامي ممن يشمله قول الله تعالى: ﴿اتبعوا ما أنزل إليكم من ربكم ولا تتبعوا من دونه أولياء قليلا ما تذكرون﴾ And His Statement the Exalted: {And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)} [59:7] ومما يشمله قوله تعالى: ﴿وما ءاتاكم الرسول فخذوه وما نهاكم عنه فانتهوا﴾ And His Statement the Exalted: {And let those who oppose the Messenger's commandment beware, lest some Fitnah should befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them} [24:63] وممن يشمله قوله تعالى: ﴿فليحذر الذين يخالفون عن أمره أن تصيبهم فتنة أو يصيبهم عذاب أليم﴾ Muqbil b. Prohibition of Blind-Following

And the four Imāms forbade taqlīd (ie: blind-following) of them and rebuked those who took their statements without ḥujjah (ie: evidence). وقد نهى الْأَئِمَّةُ الْأَرْبَعَةُ عن تَقْلِيدِهِمْ وَذَمُّوا من أَخَذَ أَقْوَالَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ حُجَّةٍ al-Shāfīʿī said: “The one who seeks knowledge without evidence is like one who collects wood at night. He carries a load of sticks, but lying in wait is a snake who could bite him while he is unaware.” فقال الشَّافِعِيُّ مَثَلُ الذي يَطْلُبُ الْعِلْمَ بِلَا حُجَّةٍ كَمَثَلِ حَاطِبِ لَيْلٍ يَحْمِلُ حُزْمَةَ حَطَبٍ وَفِيهِ أَفْعَى تَلْدَغُهُ وهو لَا يَدْرِي This was mentioned by al-Bayhaqī. ذَكَرَهُ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ.
