Day 9 Lena Challenge

Inspired by designs of his own making, here's a birthday gift to my good friend @blind3dbylight, check out his awesome pixel art!

blind3dbylight: Dreamer, might I suggest the idea that "easy mode" doesn't necessarily have to mean dumbed down AI or altered player/enemy stats? Think of like Celeste's assist mode and how a form of that could be applied to a game like Sekiro.

That’d be wonderful, it really would be, but it runs into the very same issues of being potentially economically unsustainable for the devs, not part of their visions, or both. Celeste’s Assist Mode is a wonderful “make your own difficulty” system, I really am a fan of it, but it is still something you need to make. It perhaps isn’t as time and resource consuming as a more traditional Easy Mode, but it is still an investment, one that the devs maybe can’t make, or maybe don’t want to make.

I can’t stress enough that I like the idea, but it still runs into the same issues. Perhaps at a lower scale, but still. That said, I think precedent like Assist Mode is something future devs should consider when creating their own games and the future generation of what constitutes difficulty modes, you know what I mean?

I admit I didn't get into Yakuza until around the time Kiwami came out, but man, I played 0 and was just floored by how hard I got into it. I got through that and both Kiwami games, sat for hours watching through 3/4/5, and then went into 6 and before I knew it, I was desperate for more. I remembered These Yakuza.

I hear that’s how it is for a lot of people, and I couldn’t be happier!

Yakuza 0 legitimately put the games on the map harder than anything could have done it. Between how memorable it is, how tight the gameplay is, and just how fun and yet tense it gets, not to mention being conceived as an entry point for people who wanted to get into it but were daunted by the sheer size of the franchise, just made it perfect.

Now you and I and everyone will Remember These Yakuza forevermore.

I legitimately cried during the ending of Yakuza 2, and it was a mix of just how happy I was and how god damn heart-wrenching that ending was.
