Baked Sweet Cheese Blintzes Casserole
חג שמח
Happy Shavuot to all the Jews in My Phone who have kept me sane these past 8 months
I am now feeding you blintzes (and lactaid cause I know we all have sensitive little tummies)
(did I make the cream cheese for the filling? Perhaps)
More Australia breakfast, this time at Grandma's in Townsville, QLD. My companion and I split honey blossom pancakes, peanut butter-jelly pancakes, eggplant and goat cheese blintzes, and a mix shakshuka (half spinich-feta, half beef-tahini) with a challah roll.
Result: Victory! This breakfast might have been super big, but holy cow was it DELICIOUS! If you find yourself in Townsville, do yourself a favor and go to Grandma's.
Oh hey, you introduced Warne! What when into his character design/what inspired you to make him the way he is? He's up there with the Yzma cat lady as far as favorite designs from this comic. (Favorite in a, mostly, non-thirsty way btw. I'm really enjoying the variety of characters in this comic! I loved the last one but you've really improved on character design/character silhouettes. Also the transport dragon is adorable.)
Hello and thank you for the kind words! Warne's people (Blintz) came from where my weirder designs come from, which is me aimlessly putting a line to paper and making it up as I go. I have the two original sketches saved on my phone, luckily:
As you can see, not too much changed. It was one of those rare times where I just doodle something and it comes out pretty well.
In the name of background info, when I was designing all the races, I decided to use a specific theme to work around - ink, gems, tools, etc. The Blintz's theme, when they were just a race I had to design still, was "paper", which lead to me trying to make them look like folded origami and naming them after a specific type of fold in that art form. They ended up with a carapace that's usually white or off-white and has segments like origami. Or armor, really, they look like more. Not really sticking to the basic idea of their theme happened with a lot of these races.
As for silhouettes: very pleased to hear that, because I am a nutter about making every character in every story I have stand out in design. Silhouettes looking different is extremely important to me, even when I'm working with two members of the same species. If I can't get the general shape of a character to look unique (and they aren't taller or rounder or more angular to stand out otherwise), I consider it a failure.
Breakfast and Brunch Recipe These pancakes, which resemble blintz, are simple, quick, and delectable.
