Oh, give me a break. No one is saying there wasn’t a power imbalance in Stolas and Blitzø’s relationship—of course there was! That’s the point. The show explicitly portrays how messy and complicated their dynamic is, with flaws on both sides but no outright abuse or rape. Blitzø’s tearful plea in Full Moon isn’t some smoking gun proving Stolas is a monster—it’s a desperate, emotional moment showing how deeply tangled their relationship is. Stolas holds financial and magical power, but he’s also emotionally vulnerable, and Blitzø navigates that dynamic with his own baggage, resentment, and fear of intimacy.

This constant need to flatten their relationship into a simplistic “victim and abuser” narrative completely misses the nuance the show is trying to explore. Stolas isn’t some evil oppressor deliberately exploiting Blitzø; he’s a lonely, broken man who makes terrible mistakes while genuinely trying to connect. Blitzø, meanwhile, struggles to reconcile his survival instincts with his deeper feelings. It’s messy, flawed, and complicated. Claiming this scene is proof of abuse is not only reductive but willfully ignorant of the show’s themes 🙄

i am a blitzø defender. and the thing about being a blitzø defender is that people disagree with me and fight me a lot

what these people don’t know is back when i was a stranger things fanatic (i have regrets.) i was the biggest mike wheeler defender of all time. and yall think you can fight me? i’ve seen WAR. i’ve gone up against humanity itself. yall ain’t got nothing on me. and you think you can fight me about BLITZ? nah

One of the examples used when people say the show is not well thought out is the fact that Blitz doesn’t seem to have fire trauma despite the circus fire being a life-destroying event.

Tbh I always thought that was because Blitz doesn’t view the fire itself as the catalyst to what ruined his life, but himself, and that began his deep-seated self-loathing which is baked into his actions and how he his trauma manifests.

Blitzø’s trauma manifests not in fear of fire but in the way he sabotages relationships, pushes people away, and struggles with self-worth. C-PTSD often leads to maladaptive coping strategies where survivors unconsciously recreate situations that reinforce their negative self-perceptions. Throughout the series, we see Blitzø’s patterns of avoidance, reckless decisions, and desperate need for connection clashing with his instinct to ruin it before he can be abandoned. His trauma response isn’t fear-driven but shame-driven—he doesn’t fear the fire, he fears himself and his own inability to escape his patterns.

Some might see this as an inconsistency, but it actually makes perfect sense given the complexity of trauma. Not everyone who survives a fire develops pyrophobia; sometimes, the deeper wounds come from guilt, grief, and self-perception. For Blitzø, the fire was never the true horror—it was just the moment that solidified his self-loathing. His arc isn’t about overcoming a singular fear but confronting his belief that he is unlovable, making him a deeply compelling and realistic trauma survivor.
