Thanks for your continued interest in Third Epoch. Your support means a lot to us, and we hope we're able to reward this by creating awesome games.
We have decided again to delay the launch of Third Epoch:Rising. Through play-tests of our earlier design, it became apparent to us that it did not meet the standard of game-play we've set for ourselves. We've boiled these down to 3 essential things we are now addressing:
A. Problem: The iPhone's limited graphics hardware restricted us to mediocre quality 3D graphics that we felt did not deliver a unique enough visual experience to players. Goal: Create a much more compelling visual experience through artistic 2D vector graphics.
B. Problem: Our UI was too complex, with too much interaction with the UI elements instead of actual game elements. Goal: Simplify UI so players interact more with the game.
C. Problem: The scope of the game was TOO minimal. Goal: Increase content (stations, ships, missions) and "gamify" more of the game. We're adding elements on the star map that are "alive", like moving orbits, the ability to jump to EVERY planet, discovering uncharted space stations and other orbiting objects, etc.
Although the guts of our game engine mostly remain the same, we've completely rebooted our approach to the graphics. We'll post videos of these soon and would like to know how you feel about them.
Our revised release date is now set for mid to late Feb 2013. We appreciate your patience and look forward to sharing more as things develop.
