Shlohmo - Bo Peep (Do U Right) ft. Jeremih (BLK SMK NIGHTCORE EDIT)

BLK SMK makes killer beats with influences ranging from trap to jazz. His most recent Soundcloud gem is a Nightcore edit of Shlohmo’s Bo Peep (Do U Right) ft. Jeremih. 

Only recently have I heard of Nightcore, and from what I can determine it’s sped up chop n screw. There’s something maniacally addictive about it: voices approaching chipmunk levels, frenzied cut-ups, all things bouncy and foot-tap inducing. 

BLK SMK’s edit is entrancing and I’ve already added to my “yeayeayea awesome funtimes” summer jams list.

BLK SMK - The Humbling

I am so excited to present to you BLK SMK. His new album "The Humbling" is out now on Fluorescent Records. It is inspired by Phillip Roths book that carries the same title. Below, Grant has shared with us what influenced him to create this album. Enjoy!

I think the book "The Humbling" influenced me in that it is a fall from grace type of story, and I really wanted to write this kind of long concept song with that type of plot, and thought that it would be good to use as a loose structure sort of. I didn't want to just steal from it though, so I figured I should pay tribute to it. Originally I intended it to be one long track, but as I was writing it I kept running out of pattern space in the sampler I was using to to produce it, I decided since the book was split in three parts I would split the song into three. I think that the first part is sort of the fall, the second a false hope, and the third is the final end. All of the vocals are by me and I meant for them to sort of not really tell the story, but be this stream of consciousness of the protagonist going through it. I didn't write the lyrics specifically to be in "canon" with the book, just sort of follow the overall story arch. Such as the spoken word part about the girl going shopping and bringing women, that part does happen in the novel.
